Despite All – In the land of You Could Not Make It Up – we learn that BRITISH taxpayers have helped to fund £452 million in aid to Argentina — despite its threat to the Falklands screamed the headlines reporting the re-action of (British) MPs after learning that the (British) Government has ignored US pleas to halt support for the sabre rattling country.    Argentina has taken the £452 million from an international aid fund heavily backed by Britain which over the last twelve years has contributed £4.66 billion to the fund.   A top level US delegation flew into London demanding a halt to all future support as the administration in Buenos Aires refuses to pay back nearly £40 billion in loans (to the USA) despite having enough money stashed away in reserves.     It is assumed that we have now stopped this nonsense but this commentator cannot help convert that amount of “aid” in the cost realised on the sale of the HARRIER jets at a knock down price to the Americas!
