Australia Rescue Gear Ship – while not a record of former Dominion Navies this account takes note of interesting developments that may be illustrative and indeed of practical use to the projection of British Maritime Power.     In Australia a SERCO subsidiary DMS Maritime Pty Limited has been ordering new support vessels for the Royal Australian Navy - since 2011 they have ordered five tugboats for duty at  Rockingham (Western Australia), Darwin and Sydney and four water fuel lighters.   Added to this group is now a Rescue Gear Ship which will be used to support the Royal Australian Navy’s submarine fleet.    This will be a Submarine Rescue Ship, seemingly in all but name!

The vessel will be built at a Damen yard in Vietnam and is due to be delivered in 2016 and in similar in hull form to the Special Forces Support Ship SD VICTORIA operating under the Serco Denholm UK  banner.
