WESTMINSTER News – The Type 23 Frigate WESTMINSTER, apart from tearing up Norwegian Fjords on submarine training has successfully test fired two SEAWOLF Anti-Aircraft Missiles off the Isle of Wight “killing” their targets “stone cold dead”.   The WESTMINSTER was trialling a new version of the canisters which hold the missiles safely in their silo, launching one armed and one data-gathering SEAWOLF at a target towed on a long cable behind an aircraft.   Some 32 SEAWOLF missiles sit in their ‘cocoons’ (or canisters) in the silo on the forecastle of a typical Type 23 Frigate – when the vessel is battle ready.     With the trials completed the WESTMINSTER is gearing up for a visit to London, sailing up the Thames and due to berth alongside the Cruiser BELFAST in the Pool of London.
