Wise WordsAdmiral Sir Sandy Woodward knows a thing or two about Defence Cuts and he has warned that Britain will be unable to defend itself if cuts to the Royal Navy continue to be made.    Sir Sandy, who in 1982 gave orders to sink the GENERAL BELGRANO said cuts could see Britain lose its permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council if it is seen as being unable to defend overseas territories effectively.    Giving written evidence to the Commons Defence Committee who has the support of other senior figures including Brigadier Julian Thompson and Admiral Sir Michael Lanyard, warns Britain will be unable to defend itself around the world if cuts continue.    It said failing to address the issue will leave Britainripe for the taking" and Sir Sandy said it was critical for Britain to have a balanced fleet.   The Committee was investigating the future defence needs, and addresses the impact of the Strategic Defence and Spending Review on the forces.
